Mr. Aytona is a noted leader, statesman and legal scholar. In the span of several decades, he has held various high positions in government. He was formerly the Secretary of Finance and Chairman of Monetary Board (1960) and Commissioner on Budget (1954). He was elected to the Philippine Senate in 1965. He has been Chairman and president of Alliance Financial Corporation since 1964 and Chairman of Tri-Union Philippine Corporation since 1977. He is also Chairman of Pantukan Minerals Corporation and Canlubang Spinning Mills, Inc. He is the Chairman and President of Multitech Investments Corp. (formerly Armstrong Holdings, Inc.).

He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Law, magna cum laude, and Masters of Law, cum laude, from the College of Law of the University of Manila and placed second in the Bar Examinations in 1950.
